General Questions

The API Hub provides information about the functional and technical aspects of APIs within Commerzbank. In addition to information about APIs, documentation and support, the API Hub gives you access to Commerzbank's API Catalogue following registration. This enables you to use the APIs in your own applications (or Apps for short).
API stands for Application Programming Interface and denotes a standardised programme interface.

Because they are standardised, APIs simplify the use of Commerzbank functions and services. To achieve this, developer integrate the APIs into their source code, which enables them to retrieve and transmit specific, pre-defined data.
APIs are essential to Commerzbank's transition to a digital and innovate enterprise. Commerzbank uses APIs to establish new channels of interaction and underpins collaboration with our partners, which enables us to provide our customers with value-added services.
The API Catalogue provides an overview of our continuously increasing API range. You’ll find the API Catalogue after registering on and logging in to Commerzbank's API Hub.

Registration & API Hub Account

In principle, anyone who wishes to learn about Commerzbank’s APIs and utilise them in conjunction with an application may use Commerzbank's API Hub. For unrestricted access to the API Hub, you first need to register.
Yes. You can register and use the API Hub completely free of charge.
You can register quickly and completely for free on the API Hub Account Registration Page, where you’ll need to enter your fore- and surname, email address and telephone number (optional) and enter a password of your choice, which must be at least 8 characters long. We’ll then email you an activation link. Once you’ve activated your account, you’ll be able to log in to Commerzbank's API Hub.
Commerzbank API Hub combines Commerzbank's many years of experience in the banking sector with our forced transformation to a digitalised technology enterprise as part of our Commerzbank 4.0 strategy. In addition to information on the subject of APIs within Commerzbank, the API Hub will provide you with everything you need for using the APIs in your own Apps.
Please contact our Support with the subject "Delete Account".
Deleting your account will also delete any Apps you may already have registered in the API Hub.

Apps

The abbreviation “App” refers to application software that provides functions and services, to which end the App access and utilises data from other sources and transmits data to third parties itself. In addition, developers can use APIs and integrate them into their own Apps. To use Commerzbank APIs, a developer needs to register an App via his or her account, assigned the selected APIs and generate the requisite authentication credentials.

You cannot share your apps with other developers yourself. Please contact our Support and tell us the name of the app to be shared and the login names of the people you want to share your app with. We're happy to do it for you.
In principle, there is no limit to the number of Apps you can register. However, we recommend that you specify the title and description as precisely as possible to make it easier to manage your Apps going forward.

You can also assign additional APIs to or remove previously assigned APIs from existing Apps.
Within the API Catalogue, you’ll find those APIs that are suitable for testing under the heading “Sandbox”. Like all other APIs, these can be assigned to your App. As soon as you have integrated the APIs in your App, you can send test requests to our sandbox, which will return mock data to help you with your application development.

Security

Commerzbank implements the OAuth2 security standard to guarantee the secure and authenticated transmission of sensitive data via APIs. You’ll find more information about the security systems we use under Documentation.

Problems and Error Messages

Should you encounter problems when registering in the API Hub, please get in touch with us under Contact. Please describe the issues as accurately as possible (e.g., registered email address) so that we can resolve them as quickly as possible. If you have not received an email with an activation link, make sure that you have entered your email address correctly.
Give your App a name. After this, it should be possible to create your App.

You will also have the option to enter your email address, and telephone number as well as a short description of your App. To successfully create your App, please ensure that you check the “Enable Authentication” box.

Should you still have problems creating your App, we would ask you to contact our Support.
You can manage all your registered Apps and view the respective details under Apps (after logging in).
Please contact our Support and describe your problem as detailed as possible (environment, app name, API name and version and approximate time at which the error occurred).
